Toonly: Trim Audio

Learn how to trim and adjust audio in Toonly using the Playthrough setting or by dragging clips in the sound lane to control where audio starts, stops, and plays across scenes.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Note: Toonly doesn't have the ability to do any advanced audio trimming work. But there are some basic functions.

Customize Audio Using Playthrough

  1. Add audio to the music or voiceover section of the timeline.

  2. By default, the audio is set to Playthrough, meaning it auto-matches the duration of the scene it was inserted into and extends to succeeding ones. If you'd prefer to move and edit it freely, right-click the audio within the timeline, then uncheck the Playthrough option as seen below.

    • Check Off Playthrough

      • Notice how the audio cuts off at the end of the scene.

    • Unchecked Playthrough

      • Notice how the audio continues past the end of the scene.

Customize Audio Using Sound Lane

  1. Add audio to the timeline. Click on the sound and drag it back and forth on the sound lane to adjust the length, and freely move it into your preferred position. (Un)Check the playthrough, which will give you different options.
